PC067 - Protecting & Respecting Marriage Rights for All Americans with Alex Hagerty

Alex Hagerty is a Selectman in Abington, Massachusetts and the President of the Greater Boston Chapter of the Log Cabin Republicans. Alex also serves as an Office Support Specialist for the Massachusetts Department of Corrections as well as the Vice Chairman of the Abington Board of Health. In May 2018, Alex served as the Campaign Manager for, then, Republican State Rep. candidate Alyson Sullivan and in September of the same year, he served as the Regional Field Director and Inauguration Aide for the MassVictory/MassGOP & Baker-Polito Inaugural Committee.

Alex joins me today to discuss why it’s important for our government to have limited power over American citizens and what Republican’s view the role of the government truly is. We discuss the history of the Log Cabin Republicans organization and the hypocracies currently taking place in the Democratic party regarding the LGBTQ-community and the Defense of Marriage Act. We discuss how 12 Republicans helped break the filibuster to advance the Respect for Marriage Act in November 2022. We also discuss how this legislation will protect marriage rights for all Americans while allowing our religious liberties to co-exist.

“The government shouldn’t dictate who should or shouldn’t get married as consenting adults.” - Alex Hagerty
