PC058 - Let’s Talk Immigration Reform

Recently, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis sent around 50 Venezuelan migrants to Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. I feel bad for these people, who were told they would go to Boston but ended up in the Vineyard because of terrible border policies and control. They decided to come to the United States under the pretense that they would be taken care of. This issue presents the need to have a serious conversation on immigration—a conversation that should have happened many years ago, should happen now, and in the future.

In this episode, I discuss the two planes of migrants that Florida Governor DeSantis sent to Massachusetts and the need to have a serious conversation on immigration reform. I discuss how poor border policies impact taxpayers and the immigrants themselves. I also describe what political NIMBYism is, explain why some politicians avoid making hard decisions on immigration, and underscore the need to elect public officials who are willing to compromise for the good of all American citizens.

“Elect into office people who want to have conversations—not just to get on Twitter, not just to be on the headlines of the day. We need new people in office who are actually going to make a difference.” - Jennifer Nassour
