PC052 - The ‘New Norm’ of Business & Economic Vitality in a Post-COVID World with Melissa Fetterhoff

Melissa Fetterhoff is the President and CEO of the Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce and the volunteer President of the Ayer Rotery Club. For over 20 years, Melissa has worked with hundreds of businesses, legislators, and regional leaders to improve the economic vitality of Nashoba Valley by focusing on economic development, public policies, member services, and other activities that contribute to a vibrant business climate. She holds a degree in Mathematics from Fitchburg State University and received the IOM Graduate Recognition from the Professional Development Program at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce-Institute for Organization Management.

Melissa joins me today to discuss the economic vitality of Nashoba Valley two years after the COVID-19 pandemic and her predictions for the future of business and local economic development. We discuss the nationwide staffing shortage and what many businesses and organizations believe is the root cause of the shortage. We discuss how staffing shortages have significantly impacted businesses in every industry and the steps they have taken to adjust to working with a reduced workforce. We discuss how businesses are navigating the supply chain crisis and the creative strategies they’re using to keep their businesses open. We discuss how public policies and proposed tax increases are impacting local businesses and what business owners can do to help their employees better understand how these policies may impact their lifestyle. We also discuss why it’s crucial for business owners to communicate with their local legislators on how public policies and proposed taxes can impact their local economy.
